Biography
Manuela was born about 1746 to Juan Carlos Montes Vigil and Antonia Nicolasa Lujan. In 1761 she married Pedro Ignacio Sánchez[1] and they had seven known children:
- Juan Antonio, born in 1763, baptized in Santa Fe
- José Maria, born in 1765, baptized in Santa Cruz
- Francisco Xavier, born 1767, baptized in Santa Fe
- Juana Antonia de los Dolores, born in 1769, baptized in Santa Cruz
- Pedro Ygnacio, born in 1772, baptized in Santa Fe
- Juan Ignacio, married in 1790 in Abiquiu
- Antonia Nicolasa de los Reyes, born in 1778, baptized in Santa Fe.
Manuela died very suddenly in 1780.[2]
Research Notes
- The madrina at Manuela's first child's baptism was Antonia Nicolasa Lujan, who must have been her mother.[3] Antonia Nicolasa was the second wife of Juan Montes Vigil and they only had one child, a daughter named Maria Manuela de la Luz.
